THE DIGITAL IMMUNITY PASSPORT ON ATHENS SCIENCE FESTIVAL 2021

A three-day festival dedicated to science, technology, innovation with sixty online action slots, fifty top speakers from eight countries, three Nobel Prize winners, one hundred demonstration experiments, celebrity science, chemistry shows, documentaries, free parallel actions for all, the Athens Science Festival 2021 took place on March 27 – 29.

The virtual event was held by the Technopolis of the Athenian Municipality to highlight, among other things, the development of technology, its expected benefits, and its possible effects on our lives.

Among the special and honored participants was the Professor Christos Xenakis of the Department of Digital Systems of the Piraeus University, who presented the innovative application “Digital Immunity Passport” in the topic entitled “Artificial Intelligence in the field of health”.

Together with the moderator of the discussion, Giannis Rizopoulos, discussed how the application can not only allow us to travel again but also how will permit us to return to our “normality” as well as the significant opportunity to “restart” the economy.

The solution of “Digital Immunity Passport” developed by the team of the Department of Digital Systems of the University of Piraeus in collaboration with the Macquarie University of Sydney and a start-up company in Silicon Valley, USA, allows proving the status in terms of the pandemic, without sharing personal data.

Τhe Athens Science Festival, faithful to the annual meeting, invites prominent speakers to discuss and present new scientific discoveries and innovations that have a direct impact on our daily lives. This action has been taking place since 2014 and during these years it has been established as an institution, but also as a cultural event that concerns Science, Technology, Innovation, and Art!
